Day 3 - Cycling France 🇫🇷 + Spain 🇪🇸

I took my time over breakfast this morning. Before leaving the campsite I made sure my iPhone battery was topped up.

I’ve been using an app called Komoot to navigate through France. It’s how I found the campsite last night which by the way was really good value for money, only €4.

My first stop was after 15 miles in a small village. After getting directions from a young lady in a tourist office I rode up a super steep hill which the young lady said would be impossible. It wasn’t easy but I made it.

I bought some already cooked beef and chicken dishes with some potato from the butchers. Then I went next door to the pastry shop, I couldn’t help myself and bought two delicious looking pastries I never seen before.

Then I sat outside the bar, drank a glass of red wine and finished the meal off with an espresso.

I felt really tired after this meal but proceeded to cycle on. Then my Garmin watch froze on me and I lost the first half of the days cycling data. This was annoying as I love tracking how far I ride each day.

I noticed there was an Intersport not far off the cycling path and decided to go to see if I could find a holder for my iPhone which will allow me to put my iPhone without a case on the handlebars. Unfortunately they didn’t have the case I was looking for.

I spent way too long standing outside the front of the store re-booting my Garmin watch eventually having to put my hat on because it was so hot. By now I was really hot and tired and so went over to the Burger King to get some shade and complete the reboot of my watch which I did successfully.

I continued cycling on chasing the miles as if possessed. My goal each day is to hit 50 miles, I don’t know why it’s just a nice round number.

But I got so tired I had to lie down on the bench I found next to the river I’ve been cycling along all day and fell asleep using one of my panniers to rest my head.

I woke, made myself a coffee with my French press. Called my friend David also spoke to my dad. And carried on to eventually get to the campsite which I had to navigate through quite an ugly industrial area which was not very nice.

The lady on reception was just closing up and the sign on the campsite said full. I proceeded in anyway and she gave me a space on lot 23 for €8.  Before checking it out I bought a fresh apple juice out the fridge and drank it in one shot.

I decided lot 27 was better as it was flatter and the grass was in better condition so I went back and told the lady I was changing. She said no problem.

Then I set up my tent, prepared my dinner and had a shower. And now I’m sitting in my chair listening to crickets looking at the stars.
