I woke up early today

Just catching sunrise

I woke up like really early, just after 4am. My first thought was how the night before I had gone to bed at this time, my second thought, this is the time Karel Sabbe would start his day when setting the Appalachian trail fastest known time record.

It didn’t take long before I was up, dressed and in the kitchen grinding coffee beans. 15 minutes later I pressed start on my Garmin Fenix 6x Pro and headed towards my local park. I decided to walk not run as I am trying to get over an adductor pull which seems to be lingering.

During my hike I listened to The new “Out and Back” podcast featuring Heather “Anish” Anderson. Anish (Trail name) talked about her life as a record setting hiker and gave perspective on the human condition. I found it engaging and thought provoking.

Now I’m home and it’s not even 8am yet, I’ve already covered over 7 miles without running a single step. A great way to start my day.
