Appalachian Trail Day 25

The rain persisted all night, pleased I did not cowboy camp. I was out last night next to the pond with all my stuff set up on a rock overlooking the shaw in case I saw a dear.

The corrugated iron roof echoed the rain 2 foot above me. Instead of soothing me it kept me awake, but not for long.

I blasted out 17 miles today as the terrain easy and the elevation change low.

I’m staying at Shaws hostel. I stayed here in 2019 with Campfire and Gun section. Feels like I earned it this time as I hiked 300 miles to get here.

Hung out with Slim Shady for a while today. Pretty cool guy who has been living in his van and is interested in travelling in Thailand.

The next stretch of trail is the 100 mile wilderness. It’s got no resupply for the entire 100 miles. I’ve done the first 30 miles back in 2019. I’ve heard the terrain in pretty easy going for the second half.

I’m going to take about 6 days to do it, that about 16.7 miles per day. This is the area where most people hiking the Appalachian trail see moose.
