Running on the AT

Road trip, Usa day 2.

I slept in the car and had quite a good 8 1/2 hour sleep. I woke up at first light which was about 6 am and decided I would leave. I noticed the mum was outside of her Subaru in front of me. I went about preparing to leave and then she walked over and Was pretty excited about the day aHead. The day before she had told me that she was going to hitchhike 8 miles down the road and then walk 8 miles back to the car with the boys. I said okay great I’m off now. I’ll see you later. She seemed a little dejected and I got in the car preparing to leave. Then I remembered something earlier that I had seen in Ice Man‘s house. it was a picture with the words giving to others is a great human quality. So I got out the car and decided after deciding I’d give these guys a lift. And so that’s what I did drove them to the start of their hike. After drinking coffee, I decided I was also going to do a run. So I got ready And went running. I passed these guys and heard the mum talking to her mother and the boys grandma wishing her happy birthday with a beautiful view in front of them I passed not disturbing them and they didn’t see me. I continued running through the Shenandoah national park And really enjoyed the bright sunny morning in comparison to the heavy downpour of rain the previous night. As I was running I thought more about how I’m not going to listen to any podcasts during the attempt I want to be fully present on the trail and I do not want to be distracted, I even though distracted was agreat trail name. I thought about many things as I ran including how Cus D'Amato was such a mentor and the father that Mike Tyson never had. I may be cutting out podcast and audiobook on the trail but I’m listening to an audiobook because I drive and it’s Mike Tyson‘s autobiography. On the return I still hadn’t looked at my watch and I came to a cabin then I took a photo of and saw the gang. I stuck with them for about five minutes chatting and the young boy gave me some candies. Then I continued my run returned to the car at breakfast stretched in the Sun. I felt a little bit strange as there was some. People in parked cars and I was wearing my underwear doing yoga getting vitamin D from the Sun. I hope I wouldn’t be arrested or the police be called as maybe they thought I was some crazy person. I then took a couple of hours driving in the direction of Lynchburg I text David Horton but he hadn’t got back to me yet and so, I stopped off on the way and bought some food from a Trader Joe’s. I had a nice healthy lunch consisting of salad and tuna whilst talking to my sister on the phone. She’s going into the television program set tomorrow. She delayed it a day because the cat was sick. And she also felt anxious. so I drove a little bit further after lunch and found an outfitters bought myself an inflatable pillow long handled spoon and actually got some more food but this time not for lunch rather breakfast and also bought some ice at a gas station as well. Then decided I didn’t want to eat another camping meal for dinner so I typed in the Google Maps barbecue and behold, six minutes away was the local brewery that smoked meat. Actually it wasn’t so great I had pulled pork on a bun but it came cold. I asked the lady excuse me. This may be a stupid question but is this meant to be hot and she said yes and then she asked me is it hot and I said no and then she said do you want me to change it and I said if you don’t mind. I also had one pint of, summer ale, the IPA are too high in volume of alcohol. I enjoyed sitting outside looking at the mountains in the distance. Then David Horton text me with arranged to meet and have dinner on Friday night. He advised I run up the priest, then back down and then go up three ridges and then come back down again that was his training ground when he set the record on the Appalachian Trail, I came to Tye River and I’m camping in the tent at the base of the priest and three ridges. There is another lady here called Mary Jane in her late 60s maybe even early 70s hiking the trail and she said the priest almost finished her off. I also remembered when I saw the car park at this is the place where I was when I was with Sabbe and Joe never turned up to meet us and the guy who came up the trail to meet us, allowed us to sit on the tailgate of his truck and we ate some of his food. I also remember that day that my quads were quite sore so I went and come and took a dip in the river. I’m now in the duplex light listening to the Sound of the river ready to go to sleep and it’s, 850pm
